What about planning permission?
It's the question every period-home owner asks, and the honest answer is that it's rarely the obstacle people fear. Most heritage projects need some form of consent: Listed Building Consent if your home is listed, or planning permission in a conservation area where an Article 4 Direction applies. Timber is what planners expect, and slimline double glazing is generally accepted, so a well-made replacement is usually a straightforward case to put.
